RLS™ Corrosion Detection System Showcased at Local Government and Public Week 2025, Japan

The RLS™ Corrosion Detection System was recently showcased at the Local Government and Public Week 2025, held from 2–4 July 2025 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.

Representing CMT at the exhibition was CEO Mr. Sam Chiong Kok Hon, CFM, FMP, CFME-Tier 1, who presented a token of appreciation to Mr. Kazuhiro Miura (Division General Manager) and Mr. Tatsuya Noguchi (Senior Executive Officer) of IWASAKI ELECTRIC CO., LTD..

Since 1 September 2024, Iwasaki Electric has been the exclusive licensee of CMT in Japan. We sincerely appreciate Iwasaki’s recognition of our unique RLS™ technology, which enhances the value of their lighting solutions—particularly for local government applications. As part of this strategic collaboration, Iwasaki has onboarded two certified trainers and ten certified RLS™ inspectors to support deployment and operations in Japan.

A smart city inherently includes a safe city. Therefore, smart city lighting solutions must be not only intelligent but also safe. The integration of RLS™ technology provides a holistic and scientifically grounded inspection framework, ensuring public safety by accurately identifying and quantifying corrosion in planted steel structures. The system also delivers actionable recommendations—either for structural replacement or for setting appropriate retesting intervals.

Another significant milestone was the recent approval of RLS™ registration in NETIS (New Technology Information System) – a platform managed by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). NETIS catalogs and promotes the use of innovative technologies in public infrastructure projects across Japan.
